The meeting was called to order at: 7:15
I. Committee Reports
A. Advocacy: Members are receiving a periodic email with the updates from the AAD Advisory Board Committee activities provided by Dr.Kelley Redboard (DC Derm representative)
B. Atlantic Derm Conference 2020, Update:
a. Save-the-date April 24th-26th, 2020
b. Dr. Samantha Toerge officially invited all the attendees at Atlantic Derm Conference in NY (May, 2019), to attend the meeting in DC, year 2020.
C. Scholarship Program:
a. The Society has funded several research projects in the last few years.
b. Dr. A. Edward Nadimi, MD will present the results of a research project supported by the Scholarship Program: “Facial Basal Cell Carcinoma in Patients Younger Than 40”
II. New Business
A. Dr. Saurabh Singh is being presented as new Secretary-Treasurer for the year 2019-2020.
B. Dr. Jennifer Nguyen is applying for membership and will be voted on at the next meeting.
C. Dr. David Lee membership application was voted on and approved.
D. Special appreciation for the volunteers at the Arlington Free Clinic in Arlington VA, this past Thursday, May 16th, who screened over 50 people in one evening. Ashley DiLorenzo – Med-Derm resident at GUH, Michele Fricke Dermatology resident at GUH, Dr. Courtney Herbert (attending) and Dr. Mai Nguyen (attending)
III. Thank you to all the residents and faculty at Howard University Hospital Center for preparing the conference today.
IV. The invited speaker for the meeting was:
• Dr Tamia A. Harris-Tryon, M.D., Ph.D., Professor of Dermatology UT Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas
• “Microbiota and Innate Immunity Of the Skin Surface ”
V. CME: The attendants were asked to sign in a CME sheets to receive the 3.0 CME credits for the meeting. No texting for CME is available for this meeting.
VI. Academic Calendar for year 2019-2020 will be presented during the summer break.
