The meeting was called to order at: 7:15PM
I. Committee Reports
A. Social
a. Welcome Cocktail Reception at Clyde’s Georgetown on September 6th, was well received and enjoyed by all that attended
B. Plaque presentation for Dr. Ali Hendi in acknowledgment for his service, dedication and tireless efforts as President of the society during the period 2017-2018.
C. Advocacy
a. Update from Dr. Redbord – allowing children to apply sunscreen at school and is on a state and federal level.
b. Dermatology Coding Update -Dr Elston urged the group to participate in the AAD’s campaigns to reform proposed the billing changes in 2019. He also urged the group to join the AMA.
D. Scholarship
a. Scholarship Committee 2018-2019: Dr. Maral Skelsey (chair), Rosemarie Liu, Jennifer DeSimone and Benjamin Lockshin.
b. Ten thousand dollars has been ear marked for scholarships and grants. Applications are due by October 1, 2018 and April 1, 2019
E. Atlantic Derm Conference 2020.
a. Recent meeting with Chairs and Residency Program Directors
b. General Timeline, Patient viewing, Subcommittees, Social Event, etc.
F. Recent Changes in the Calendar:
a. New date for Residents’ appreciation dinner: Tuesday February 5th, 2019, Maggiano, Washington DC
b. New date for GW Academic meeting: Tuesday April 23rd, 2019
