The meeting was called to order at: 7:15pm
I. Committee Reports
A. Advocacy: Members are receiving a periodic email with the updates from the AAD Advisory Board Committee activities provided by Dr.Kelley Redbord (DC Derm representative)
B. Atlantic Derm Conference 2020, Update:
a. Save-the-date April 24th-26th, 2020
C. Scholarship Program
a. Scholarship Committee 2019-2020: Dr. Maral Skelsey (chair), Rosemarie Liu, Jennifer DeSimone and Benjamin Lockshin.
b. Ten thousand dollars has been ear marked for scholarships and grants. Applications are due by October 1, 2019 and April 1, 2020
II. New Business
A. Dr. Jennifer Nguyen is being voted on for membership approval.
B. Drs. Michael Cardis, Jason F. Solus, Kaiane A. Habeshian are applying for membership and will be voted on at the next meeting.
C. In memorium: Dr. Herb Golomb. Invitation to Dr. Charlie Aaronson to speak about Dr. Golumb.
III. Thank you to all the residents and faculty at Washington Hospital Center for preparing the conference today.
IV. The invited speaker for the meeting was:
• Key Note Presentation – “Merkel Cell Carcinoma and the Critical Role of the Dermatologist.”
• Dr. Manisha Thakuria, Co-Director of the Merkel Cell Carcinoma Center of Excellence, Center for Cutaneous Oncology at the Dana- Farber/Brigham & Women’s Cancer Center of Harvard Medical School
V. CME: The attendants were asked to sign in a CME sheets to receive the 3.0 CME credits for the meeting. No texting for CME is available for this meeting.
VI. Academic Calendar for year 2019-2020 has been emailed.
