Business Meeting Report/Minutes

Tuesday, September 24th, 2013
The meeting was called to order by Dr. Benjamin Lockshin at 7:11 p.m.
I. Minutes from the Tuesday, May 21st, 2013 meeting were approved unanimously.
II. Committee Reports
- Advocacy Committee – No updates
- Social Committee – No updates
- Treasurer’s Report – No updates, but please pay your dues if have not done so already.
III. Old Business
- CDR Jonathan Bingham M.D. Program Director for the Walter Reed NMMC Dermatology Residency thanked the society on behalf of all residents for the new book grant to resident trainee program approved at the last meeting.
IV. New Business
- Voting on new candidates for membership – Dr. Terrence Keaney, Dr. Tania Peters and Dr. Sherry Maragh was completed and all were approved unanimously.
- New membership applications were presented – Jennifer DeSimone, M.D., and Felisa Lewis, M.D. – They will be voted on at the next meeting.
- Dr. Ben Lockshin presented Dr. Maral Skelsey, the outgoing president, the traditional plaque for her outstanding performance 2012-2013.
- Women’s Dermatological Society’s (WDS) community service campaign, Play Safe in the Sun! Sunday 29 September- free skin cancer screenings, sun damage assessments, educational materials and free sunscreen to participants attending the Prevent Skin Cancer Foundation’s 5K Walk/Run at Washington Nationals Park, from 9:00am – 11:00am per Dr. Ella Tombs

Dr. Ben Lockshin thanked the staff and residents of Washington Hospital Center for organizing an outstanding meeting.
