The annual AADA legislative conference was held in Washington DC September 11-13: our former society president, Kelly Redbord, chaired the grass roots advocacy committee and several members of the DC Dermatological Society participated including Larry Green, Alison Erlich, and Nick Logemann. One hundred and eighty four dermatologists, patients, dermatology nurses and administrators went to Capitol Hill and met with 214 members of congress.

The 4 key messages that the AADA conveyed included:

  1. Easing regulatory burdens to preserve patient access to quality dermatology care
  2. Improve access to treatments including access to compounding medications, ease process of generic drugs to market and innovations for new treatments
  3. Promote skin cancer prevention
  4. Support medical research at NIH, NCI, NIAMS and CDC
  5. The AADA legislative conference is held annually in September, here in Washington DC. We encourage more members to participate.
